Alan R. Shapiro (born February 18, 1952 in Boston, Massachusetts) is an American poet and professor of (English and creative writing program ) at the (University of North Carolina ), in Chapel Hill. He is the author of (numerous poetry books ), including ''Tantalus in Love'', ''Song and Dance'', and ''Dead Alive and Busy''.
